On July 16, 2019, it was announced that the historic Tallahassee restaurant, Ma Mary’s, will be reopening its doors, 20 years after its initial closure, as TC Bakery Featuring Ma Mary’s Kitchen next month on August 3, 2019.
Behind this re-opening is Jennifer Young, who is the late Tommie C. Williams’ daughter (the original co-owner of Ma Mary’s). Young runs Tailored Confections here in town. Ma Mary’s was closed after Williams’ death 20 years ago, and according to locals, the Tallahassee food scene has just not been the same.
TC Bakery Featuring Ma Mary’s Kitchen will honor Ms. William’s life “while bringing [her] long-missed menu back to life for people in Tallahassee,” Young says. Alongside Young will be her close family, including her husband and sister, who will help run the new eatery.
With a menu ranging from soul food to classic southern desserts, the bakery is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily and has “diverse offerings to suit all taste buds.” Some of their classic deserts, such as key lime pie, red velvet cake, and chocolate ganache cake are just a couple of items on their menu.
The Young Family is ecstatic about the re-opening of this Tallahassee staple, saying, “we’re looking forward to walking in the legacy of our parents while creating new memories for generations ahead.”
Located at 614 Eugenia Street, TC Bakery Featuring Ma Mary’s Kitchen is a must-visit for old timers and new guests alike. In the words of Young, “We want to feed Tallahassee again!”

Congratulations
