This morning, on August 29, the City of Tallahassee released what locations across town will be giving out sandbags to “help residents prepare for heavy rainfall and the possibility of localized flooding.” As Hurricane Dorian looms, “the current forecast details heavy rain and strong winds beginning as early as Saturday night,” the city reported. You can stop by either of these 2 locations beginning at 12:00 p.m. today to stock up on sandbags.
Messer Park — 2830 Jackson Bluff Road
Northwood Mall — 1940 North Monroe Street
Those planning to get sandbags must bring their own shovels, and fill the bags themselves. There is a limit of 25 bags per family.
Citizens are encouraged to report flooded Tallahassee streets to the City by calling 850-891-4968 if seen during the potential storm. If more locations open up, they will be added to this comprehensive list.
