October is Adopt-a-Dog-Month, and here in Tallahassee, there are numerous organizations and shelters around town that facilitate dog adoptions for those who want a furry friend. To celebrate Adopt-a-Dog Month, check out these places that offer dog adoption services.

Big Dog Rescue — Don’t let the name of this organization fool you! Big Dog Rescue has dogs (and cats!) of all sizes available for adoption. The primary purpose of this rescue is to rescue dogs who have suffered from “abuse, abandonment, euthanasia or natural disaste” and deliver them to loving families in the Tallahassee community.

Leon County Humane Society — The Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) wants to rescue, rehabilitate, and educate when it comes to dog adoption. All dogs assisted by LCHS are part of a foster program that allows them to be loved and trained while waiting for their forever home.

Tallahassee Animal Service Shelter — The Tallahassee Animal Service Shelter (Tallahassee Animal Shelter) is the City of Tallahassee’s official animal shelter, and they consistently house dogs of all ages that are in need of a family. ECAH Animals, INC: Tallahassee/Leon County — This organization works to save lives of homeless animals in the Tallahassee and Leon County Area. ECAH assists in dog adoptions, rescue, education, care, and housing. Ultimately, ECAH Animals, INC wants to be a resource for dog adoption organizations everywhere.
