Hosted by the City of Tallahassee, the Tallahassee Police Department, and Pineview Elementary School, 2 community meetings to discuss the future site of the new Tallahassee Police Department HQ have been scheduled for December 2, 2019, from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m, and December 3, 2019, from  5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. The first meeting will be held at Pineview Elementary School, and the second meeting will be held at the Tallahassee Senior Center.

The relocation of the Tallahassee Police Department headquarters site has caused much controversy, so these meetings have been long-awaited and highly anticipated. Currently, the 100-year-old building that serves as the TPD HQ is located on 7th Avenue. At these meetings, attendees can expect to hear from the city and the project architect about the 2 potential locations, Lake Bradford Road Wastewater Treatment Plant (1815 Lake Bradford Road), and the Northwood Centre (1940 N. Monroe Street/514 W. Tharpe Street), that have been determined to best suit the new TPD HQ.

Layouts and additional details and ideas will be presented about both of the properties, and public input is encouraged. “Public input has been vital for reaching this stage in the site selection process; additional feedback gathered at the community meetings will help further refine the plan and site options,” the City says.

Once the community meetings have taken place, findings and a cost analysis for each site will be presented to the City Commission, who will determine the final site selection. More information, and progress updates, can be found here.

Can’t make either of these meetings? “Additional opportunities for community input will be scheduled as the project progresses,” assures the City. You can RSVP to this event on Facebook, here.
