The Gulf Specimen Marine Lab, located at 222 Clark Dr in Panacea, FL, will be hosting 2 beach exploration tours in June. One will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020, and the other on Saturday, June 20, 2020, both beginning at 9:00 a.m. These tours offer attendees a chance to peek at “life usually hidden under the water and sand” and “the sea’s mysterious nature” that sometimes “ends up on the beach above the surf zone,” the marine lab said on their Facebook page.
The tour will last 2-3 hours and will boast of the beauty found at the beaches that make up the “Wilderness Coast.” “Beaches are alive, curious and ever-changing,” they shared, and there is much to offer and discover at each one. Critters, shells, plants, and more will be analyzed, and a history of local shore life will be taught. Each tour will be guided by Debbie Clifford, a marine life collector for the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab and certified Green Guide and member of the Florida Green Guide Association.
Those who attend are encouraged to bring water, a hat, sunscreen water shoes, insect repellant, and to dress according to the weather. Tickets to the tours cost $20 for adults, and $10 for children (ages 5-12 years old). Group size for each tour is 15 people, and reservations can be made by calling the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab at 850-984-5297.
