El Cocinero opening new location in Midtown in December

TALLAHASSEE, Fla ā€” Within the next few weeks, popular Mexican food restaurant, El Cocinero, will be opening up a new location in Midtown at 1303 Thomasville Road. While a specific date has not been set for their grand opening, the restaurant is planning on opening their doors in early December.

As of recent, El Cocinero has been operating out of Liberty Bar & Restaurant, located at 1307 N Monroe Unit #2. Their original restaurant, located at 402 E Tennessee St, was closed months ago amid COVID-19 concerns. Ownership decided that starting new would make the most sense logistically.

“We have made the careful decision to not reopen in our original home before the new location is done,” they say. “For us to reopen the original location at this time, mobilize and operate for a couple months, and then shut down again to move later this summer would just be too much logistically, especially after the chaos the staff has already endured,” they explain.

El Cocinero celebrates “technique, flavors, and passion” with the goal to be authentic and pay homage to tradition. Their extensive menu offer classic Mexican fare, nine types of tacos and “El Cocinero” style drinks, such as spicy palomas and hibiscus mojitos. You can view their full dine-in menu online, here.

Their current hours are Tuesday-Thursday 5 p.m.-10 p.m. and Friday-Sunday 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Social distancing while inside the restaurant is required, as are masks while not seated.

El Cocinero operators are thrilled to be opening this new location very soon. “We dearly missed seeing you and absolutely cannot wait to show off our new building soon!”
